Yo, Tumblr
Life’s boring in Clyde.
Went shopping at Kohl’s yesterday in Sandusky and nabbed 3 shirts for $25, saving $166 according to my receipt. Highlight of my week.
This week includes more studying accounting, and in a hot minute I’m going to take some photos of downtown Clyde, America’s Most Famous Small Town.
I miss…Paris Baguette? Seriously, getting fresh bread all...

Weird Dream
Dreamt last night that I was helping Tiger Woods figure out where he needed to go using public transportation in Seoul. He was kind of a dick to me, though. Weird dream.

Today
Did errands for my mother, including grocery shopping at two different grocery stores and a trip to the quilt shop.
Ate Wendy’s. Which is still as amazing as ever. I’ve worked there, even, and still say Wendy’s > Burger King + Mcd’s.
The rest of the afternoon will be spent learning the lyrics to “We Didn’t Start the Fire”. Turns out a lot of these...

Race on NOSF
A friend posts on my behalf and brings some sanity to the conversation:
I have lived in Compton. SIPS wouldn’t be killed, he would be robbed but not because of his skin color. More likely his clothing and speech which would clearly define him as an outsider. Believe it or not, there are white people living in Compton, in Latin Kings territory and in K-town. Yes, the gangs are defined by...

I had a tough time going from Seoul to Paris. Seoul to … Columbus? Can’t imagine.
LOL. My hometown is so.much.smaller. than Columbus. We’re talking 6,000 or so people.
I could eat at TGI Friday’s easier in Seoul than where I am now.

This Race Stuff
Holy crap this is getting out of hand. If any Tumblr friends are desk-warming and want to join this miserable discussion, feel free. You get to see top-notch racism first-hand.
These are quotes of other people, not me:
I watched the Obama video again. I still see a man with power using it to influence people along racial lines. What struck me more, and is irrelevant to the discussion on this...

Motivation
When I got home, I unpacked and basically destroyed my old bedroom (which had pretty much none of my stuff in it). Now I need to pick up. The problem is I don’t know how much longer I’ll be here. And I really have no storage. And my dad gets super upset if stuff is kept out. I have no motivation to do this picking up. I think I’ll play the piano.

Yeah, Korean has two sets of numbers! One is “Sino-Korean” and you use them in specific circumstances, and then there are pure “Korean” numbers that you use for others. The Sino-Korean numbers (Chinese) include “Sam” and “Sa”
I like to think of the Sino-Korean numbers as...
A couple notes
The incredibly offensive and racist posts earlier are NOT mine, but quotes from an on-going debate I’m having.
A friend e-mailed me quite upset at my racist opinions, which were in fact not mine.
So we’re clear.
On Clyde
So home is weird and strange. It’s nice to have space and not a million people, but American things make me uncomfortable.
Examples:
Karaoke at the bar. Bleahhrhrhr. No. Go to a Norae-bang. I don’t want to hear your 12 year old sing about doing it on the couch and stroking it to the east.
People at bar/restaurants. Went to what would be a “Hof” in my area...

The Gray Hairs of Clyde
Clyde, population 6,600, has a rich history and is dubbed “America’s Most Famous Small Town”.
I rode my bike to the coffee shop in the old downtown. Built around the turn of the 19th century, the building was probably outlined in Sherwood Anderson’s Winesburg at some point in time. As I sip my coffee, reading what consolations Nietzsche offers for difficulties, I...
Pirating
I thought I was going to be done with that. I thought TV shows streamed online in America. Turns out there are all kinds of stipulations and requirements, like having a DISH account or waiting 8 days.
Srsly TV companies, you’re failing me.

never knew about egypt, what did you do there?
We earned our CELTA there, and then held shady jobs that ended OK or terribly (for me) for a few months. Lived there for 5 months. Miss it like crazy. Cairo’s a captivating city.

WHAT!? Verizon told my dad my iphone couldn’t be used there even if it was unlocked! Something about sim cards. Do you know something I don’t?
It can’t be used on Verizon. AT&T, T-Mobile and a host of other carriers use SIM cards though, so you can sign up with them. Verizon’s pretty much the only major...

Leaving Korea - The feelings
Now that I’ve finished 90% of the last Cass I’ll have for a long time, I thought I’d dive into my psyche a bit.
This whole leaving thing is strange. I’ve been abroad since October of 2009. Egypt for 5 months, then Korea for 2 years. So I’m used to the change. Leaving for Egypt was terrifying, and my arrival didn’t go as smooth as one would hope. When I...

Leaving Korea - The Wrap-Up
So I clearly still have internet access. Here’s a rundown of my day:
9 AM - mailed a box home. Spent a total of 230,000 KRW on 2 boxes home (23 total KG; it’s about 10,000 a kilo, not terrible).
9:20 AM - call Olleh Internet. Tried to cancel. To cancel right now was a 52,000 cancellation fee, plus the bill (Which is always paid on the 25th) of 35,000. Or I could just pay ahead...

Radio Silence
Not like this blog is particularly loud, but at some point today my interwebs will be cancelled, as will my cell phone service, and bright and early tomorrow AM I’ll be relocating to the US (after 30 hours of travel).
So this is probably my last post from Korea. Sad to go, but the time has come.
Anyways, in the meantime, happy Tumbling!

Korean tourists kidnapped in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula
I never went that far south in Sinai, but Breanna did. It is a different place, that part of Egypt. We crossed into Israel at Taba, where you can see 3 countries (sometimes 4!) at the same time.
