Trying to get over the flu? Skip the chicken soup and grab a pint of “influenza sorbet,” the bourbon-infused frozen treat from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams loaded with stuff designed to help clear your passages. And despite the name, it is not influenza-flavored. Though we’re sure the Maker’s Mark gives it a kick.
It may not be influenza-flavored, but Jeni Britton Bauer did tell us last year that she had experimented with vinegar and other flavors inspired by her mother’s home remedy of wearing vinegar-soaked socks.
“The funny thing was, I said it was going to either taste like creme fraiche or feet,” Britton Bauer recalled. “It tasted like feet. We were like ‘Oh, that isn’t good.’ ”
Here’s to hoping I don’t need this. Props to Jeni’s for this photo being in the LA Times. Jeni’s is good people.
